Will Obama’s nuke policy weaken the U.S.?
Despite some concerns, Senate Republicans likely to line up behind new arms pact with Russia
SunSentinel – President Obama announced a new policy this week that virtually rules out the U.S. using nuclear weapons against non-nuclear states, meaning that it won’t answer chemical, biological or conventional attacks with nukes.
The exceptions include countries like Iran and North Korea. That wasn’t’ enough to stop critics from blasting the president for weakening U.S. security and compromising one of its strongest deterrents against enemy attacks of all kinds.
Supporters said the policy would make the U. S. safer by giving momentum to the president’s efforts to reduce the spread of nuclear weapons around the world. Talk about it!
